Some pics of Dev Alpha OS 10.0.9..44

So by now you've probably seen quite a few of videos and pictures of the BB10 update for the Dev Alpha. Personally, I'm very impressed with how everything looks and flows together; and with another couple months before RIM actually releases it, I think BB10 is going to put RIM back into the position of a very strong contender in the mobile market. In case you haven't seen enough yet, here's a couple additional screenshots: [gallery link="file" columns="2"] If there's any particular app or setting…

BlackBerry10 Dev Alpha update available - 10.0.9.44! (.bar download will be available soon :D)

I haven't had a chance to see what it includes yet, but based on what I've heard from Jam it's probably good! OSBB will have the .bars available for download soon, and will report on the updates. Update: it turns out that the .bars do NOT work on the PlayBook. But if you would still like them, I suggest you use Sachup, which you can read about here and download from here.

Nobex Radio being tested for BlackBerry 10

It's always good to see major developers planing to support BlackBerry 10. Today I was checking App World on my Dev Alpha and noticed that Nobex has a beta available for BB10. All in all, it looks really good, and plays well too. I checked out several stations from back home, and they all played really well (much better than I was expecting). I haven't used Nobex for a while, and it was cool to see that it brings up album art and stuff like…

Netflix declares no intent to support BlackBerry - A Call To Action

A couple hours ago Netflix tweeted that they have no intentions to support BlackBerry, or the BlackBerry Playbook. Personally I think this is a ridiculously bad business decision, but it doesn't really matter what I think; what matters is what Netflix executives think. So this is an OpenSourceBB Call To Action, requesting that any readers who agree with us that Netflix should support BlackBerry, and especially the BlackBerry PlayBook contact Netflix to let them know you're displeased with this choice. I personally intend to discontinue…

Why I Choose BlackBerry

Working in the cellular industry, I hear the question everyday. "Why do you use a BlackBerry? They are slow and can't do what a Droid or an iPhone can do!" I can answer that question in four simple words...BlackBerry works for me! I use my phone for one purpose. Communication. Which surprisingly is what phones were designed for in the first place. I make phone calls, text, and email with my BlackBerry. Sure, I can do all of that with another platform, but not with…

Quicklaunch updated to 4.0 for OS7, OS6 update to follow soon

One of my personal favorite apps is QuickLaunch - when I first got it, the main thing it did for me was let me turn a convenience key into basically a multi-convenience key, presenting you with a user-generated list of applications. Since then QuickLaunch has had a lot of new features added to it, and today it was updated to version 4.0 and a variety of new features were added to it. According to Nikkisoft's twitter feed, the update is currently only for OS7 but…

Bubble Bash 2 Review (user submitted)

First off I would like to say that those who make reviews on BlackBerry AppWorld, should tell the truth. STOP FABRICATING! I would not have downloaded this game because of the reviews if I didn't listen to my "gut instincts". With all that said, I am happy to do an honest review on a game that was a complimentary gift from a company who cares about its consumers. :)

A Little Food for Thought by @79Stanger

On Oct. the 18th Research In Motion (the maker's of BlackBerry) announced a rebranding of their QNX operating system. This rebranding has incorporated the operating systems from both their currently available tablet the Playbook, and the future Superphones as dubbed by RIM. Now I tend to think a little outside of the box, and at 2 a.m. my thoughts really start to get out there. That is when I came up with my current idea (while talking to @berryinformed). Since there is already a rebranding…

Fishloader: A 'must have' application for your BlackBerry

So, when the guys at OSBB started working on 362v2 I was away from a computer for the day. Being that all OSBB hybrids are community builds, I was feeling a little left out. How was I to collaborate on a community build with out my computer? Then I remembered about a great new application released by LsPhone in collaboration with our very own SCrid2000: Fishloader. How did this solve my issue you may ask? Well, to answer that question, you will have to…

A friendly rant (submitted by @79Stanger)

So today I get home from being out and about ready to fire up the Playbook. I get sat down and go to load up my favorite twitter client Blaq. Just my luck, due to issues with twitter I couldn't access Blaq. So what's a guy to do? Lightbulb! "Let's try the tablet optimized site on the Playbook". Genius right? Well this time it didn't turn out that way.
