BlackBerry Link 1.0.0.71 Available for BlackBerry 10 Now!

I figured we'd start with the good stuff: the download link - http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop/blackberry-link.html RIM as posted a page and a download for BlackBerry Link, for syncing your BlackBerry 10 Smartphone with your PC (only BlackBerry 10, OS7 and older will still need to use Desktop Software). It can also be used to transfer data from an OS7 or older device to your new BB10 Smartphone. For a video on how BlackBerry Link works, check out http://demos.blackberry.com/blackberry-z10/na/us/gen/how-to/blackberry-link/connect-to-computer/blackberry-link/index.html. And for all you Mac users out there, it looks like there's both a PC and a Mac version. Setup seems fairly straightforward. You name your…

Update to Playbook OS 2.0.0.7111 and keep Google Market (Huluberry and root still not working)

I've been holding off updating my Playbook to OS 2.0.0.7111 because there's three things I didn't want to lose: SSH access, Huluberry, and (most importantly) Google Market and full functionality of the Android Player via ADW Ex. Well tonight I had a few minutes to mess with it, and I found a way that you can update to OS 2.0.0.7111 and keep Android Market.

Changing Playbook Icons - Android ICS Icon set download

People first started swapping out the icons on their Playbook almost immediately after Dingleberry was released. It's actually a fairly easy process, one that anyone who's managed to obtain root access and setup Winscp or another SSH client should be able to handle. I believe the first tutorial was written by Sith_Apprentice on Crackberry. At any rate, the concept is simple - all you do is find an icon you like, SSH into your rooted Playbook, open /apps/(folder for the app you want to change the icon of), and replace the icon with a quick drag and drop. Fairly simple…

Dingleberry 3.01 Released - Hulu Enabler and Downgrading!

I should also mention right up front that it now has mac support, for those of us who don't have a PC. Update: There is now also a linux version for us uber dorks! Also, if HuluBerry wasn't working for you with 3.0, 3.01 (available now) probably fixes that. Those of us who have been following the whats-what on Playbook tweaking are no doubt familiar with Dingleberry, the Playbook rooting tool. It looks like Chris Wade (and it looks like http://bnxtreme.com) have finally gotten Dingleberry 3.01 out to us (at least a Release Candidate of it). Keep reading for the…

Map your Playbook to a Network Location; AKA Easy File Access over WiFi

Just a few days ago I wrangled myself a BlackBerry Playbook. A bit late, but that’s not the point of this article. Since I’ve gotten it I’ve done my best to explore many of the features (and lack thereof) that it has. I could spend literally hours raving about what I love (and ranting about what I hate) but this write up is far more limited in purpose than that. I want to talk about a very nifty little feature the Playbook has, and give directions for even the most un-tech-savvy reader to be able to use it (provided you…
